Open Source Automation Development Lab, still very little known in France, is the main network of professionals providing products and services for the use of Open Source software in the industrial world. The role of this association is to animate the Open Source community, support its members on legal issues around licenses, and defend their interests in general.

The Eclipse Foundation is presenting this year its Software Defined Vehicle (SDV), Eclipse IoT, and Edge Native working groups as well as the Cloud to Edge project and the OpenHardware initiative.

The Linux Foundation is strongly present with three flagship projects.

The must-have Yocto project is also present at this event. For the uninitiated, it is an Open Source project that provides templates, tools, and methods to create a custom Linux distribution for embedded products, whatever the chosen architecture. It allows to reduce of the time to market the product and drastically reduces the maintenance costs.

The Automotive Grade Linux project brings together car manufacturers, suppliers, and technology companies to accelerate the development and adoption of a fully open-source software stack for the connected car. AWS presents a very nice demo here is the link to build it yourself.

This year the Zephyr project has seen things in a big way. This third project of the Linux Foundation has become in a few years the new trendy real-time OS for microcontrollers. Its main advantage lies in its advanced power management functions and its ability to run in an environment with very little memory.

A word from Christophe Brunschweiler

"Of course, it's impossible to make an exhaustive list, but through our meetings, discussions and But through our meetings, discussions, and the various domains, projects, and product examples, we could see that Hall 4 of Embedded World (the hall dedicated to software solutions) was full of open source solutions for embedded systems and IoT. For this article, we probably should have chosen "Open Source is everywhere" (or rather, "Open-Source ist überall") as the title!"
